We believe that beauty is a vital part of all people—at MBH we support that beauty. We believe that fashion is a form of self-expression and art, and that style can exist apart from a materialistic society, as beauty is not grounded in vanity. Whole beauty is important to us, which is why we take an external and internal approach. For this reason, MBH offers products and services that focus on all areas of building a beautiful life.

Our second location is less than half a mile from the original shop on the corner of Atwood & Winnebago.
The Atwood building dates from 1913 and originally housed the Security State Bank. Since then, it’s been a speakeasy, a bar, and a few other businesses along the way. We’re so excited to put down more roots in the neighborhood!

Our original location, a modest two-chair beauty shop, has an impressive history. Gibbs Barber Shop was originally owned by Gilbert Westbrook and was the first barber shop we of know that operated in our space. Westbrook sold the business to Iver Kalbacken who ran the shop from 1957 until 1962 when he retired and was greatly missed by the community. The shop was taken over by Don Hufford until Flagstad Flowers opened here in 1970. Following a forty-year hiatus in the beauty trade, it was an honor to occupy the Magic Triangle from 2016 until Fall of 2022, at which time MBH made the difficult decision to close that arm of our business to focus on continuing to grow our Atwood location and MBH Health.

BOOKING INFORMATION
Appointments for beauty services in the shop can be made by booking online or by calling the shop directly. All freelance inquiries for the owner must be made by phone or by email before a booking is confirmed.
BOOKING POLICY
At Midwest Beauty House, we strive to provide exceptional service and accommodate our clients to the best of our ability. To ensure a smooth and efficient scheduling process, we have implemented the following cancellation policy:
24-HOUR CANCELLATION NOTICE
We require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for any appointment cancellations or rescheduling.
50% CHARGE FOR LATE CANCELLATIONS
If a cancellation occurs after the 24-hour window, a fee equivalent to 50% of the scheduled service will be charged. This fee helps compensate our stylists and cover the costs associated with the reserved time.
100% CHARGE FOR NO-SHOW
No-shows (failure to provide any notice to the salon) will result in a charge equivalent to 100% of the scheduled service. This policy is in place to respect the time and effort of our stylists and to minimize disruption to our salon schedule.
