There are lots of things to consider when it comes to packing for outdoor travel–humidity, rain, dry climates are just a few of the weather conditions to take into consideration when planning your outdoor adventure. You’ve got the raincoat, waterproof hiking boots, dry bags for storage, sunscreen and bug spray, but what about hair protection?

We’ve rounded up some of our go-to products to avoid knots, tangles and dryness on your summer outdoor adventures to protect your hair from the elements, while keeping it low maintenance and easy so you’ve got more time to explore and do you. And if you’re trying to pack as minimally as possible, don’t forget about protective styles–braids, buns, etc., as well as a hat or scarf (check out these beauties by Hemlock!) for extra protection.

While it works hard to disinfect pools, chlorine’s disinfectant property doesn’t do any favors for your hair and scalp. Chlorine can strip the natural oils from your hair, leaving it dry, brittle, and dull – which can lead to hair breakage, damage, and split ends.
